Mommies Matter

Mommies Matter, led by Executive Director and founder Monica Flynn, is dedicated to providing women who may have few options at the time of their unplanned pregnancy opportunities for extensive accompaniment and mentorship once they have made the choice for life. They believe that “life is better when we do it together,” and promise their mommies a safe and nonjudgmental space to engage in authentic relationships with other single moms, supportive Allies, and others who desire to walk alongside them. Mommies Matter works closely with local pregnancy centers, hospitals, and other social service organizations, to offer an extended array of extensive support services unique to single mothers in the Columbus, Ohio area which include behavioral healthcare and mental and emotional health support services. In April 2021, Veritas established a formal partnership with Mommies Matter to offer mental and emotional health educational and support services through enrichment, individual counseling, and group support services.

Diocese of Columbus Catholic Schools

The Diocese of Columbus is committed to supporting teacher mental and emotional wellness and recognizes that the Covid-19 crisis has made the challenges educators and school employees face, and resources needed, even greater. In response, Veritas formed a partnership with the diocese in November 2020 to provide educational and supportive services to all diocesan educators. The Catholic Foundation is also a generous financial partner in this endeavor. This goal of this collaboration is to help employees learn more about their own personal wellness and to explore how to “be the best versions of themselves” while coping with the many changes and demands in their learning environments and lifestyles. They can drop into a virtual education session once a month to learn about a different mental and emotional health topic facilitated by a Veritas counselor and engaged in discussion and Q&A. Employees can also schedule a 30-minute individual, virtual wellness consultation. Wellness consultations are not intended to serve as counseling sessions, but rather to provide employees with recommendations, helpful resources, and possible next steps for their self-care as they navigate whatever challenges they are facing. Consultations are led by a licensed mental health counselor at no cost to the teacher and may be scheduled directly through the Veritas website.
