Supervision

Some clinicians believe that supervision is only focused on discussing treatment challenges with clients. Other clinicians think that supervision is only necessary when you are a “novice” counselor, when you are in a Master’s program completing a practicum/internship, or when you are trying to get a license. But most clinicians know that clinical supervision is an ongoing opportunity to explore, learn, process and continue growing, both personally and professionally. The supervisory relationship does include discussing relevant client issues, possible interventions, and potential ethical and cultural dynamics, but it can also be an opportunity for a supervisor to support professional identify growth and career development.
